Moral Dependance on God
|
|
I had a conversation with someone this week where we were discussing things of moral importance greater than ourselves. His feelings were, “If it doesn’t directly affect me or my family, then people can do whatever they want.” As we spoke, the other party in our conversation nodded in agreement. I remembered Jesus’ word about the foolishness of casting pearls before swine and decided I was done trying to convince them of the need for people to ensure that our society be morally dependant on God. It seems that a large percentage, maybe even the majority, of people in this country do not feel the need to leave a moral society for their grandchildren to inherit. It’s too bad. The moral decay we are experiencing may not be new – there has always been the Sodom’s, Gomorrah’s and Rome’s pushing beyond the border of what is morally acceptable in society. However, it seems that this country has truly forgotten its roots. Martin Luther king was a man of morals. He believed that there was something wrong in our society and he fought so this country would recognize its immoral ways. Today, we squash men of moral fabric. Their voices are drowned out by those who enjoy, not defend, the freedoms we’ve inherited from our forefathers. But God has always depended on the remnant to do His work. We need to continue to fight for the truth, for what is right. Let them beat us down, let them nod in agreement against us. But never let them take away what we know is true. For all their talk, it is God who is in charge and the day that He chooses to remove the immorality from this country, as He did in Sodom, Gomorrah and Rome, all those who tried to squash righteousness will answer to The Righteous. |
