Lyall Cameron can be a Rangers key player within a year.
That's the verdict of the man who knows the Dundee midfielder best, as James McPake revealed what sets the Ibrox-bound midfielder apart from his fellow professionals.
Dark Blues boss Tony Docherty will be hoping he can depart Dens Park by delivering the perfect gift in making sure his current club are plying their trade in the Scottish Premiership next season. It was McPake who handed him his debut at Dundee and he's since went on to establish himself as a key player - like Luke McCowan before his summer move to Celtic with Brendan Rodgers.
McPake believes the fitness levels of Cameron - when fit - and the way he trains and the numbers he can hit are all areas that will see him excel and he's more than sure he is good enough to make the move to Glasgow and make his mark in the Rangers side.
Asked if he can play at Rangers every week, he told Go Radio: "I do. It will take him time to go in. Technically he is excellent. But what sets Lyall apart for me is his fitness and the way he can train and the numbers he can hit in training.

"Yes he is small in stature, we all know that, but what he misses with that. We've seen Luke McCowan going in at Celtic. He's not had the game time recently that he probably has hoped for but he's been a good addition in my opinion to the Celtic squad.
"Lyall could have that impact. He might not go in and set the place alight right away but over the next 6-12 months he can be a starter in that Rangers team. A fantastic young talent and people said should Dundee have sold him the way they sold Luke McCowan.
"But you get to the point that if Lyall helps keep them, if he gets back from injury, in the Premiership this year then that pays for that and they've had the money for Luke McCowan as well. For me he is good enough to go in, certainly in this Rangers team."
Meanwhile, John Souttar insists Rangers will do everything they can to reach the Europa League semi-finals.
The defender missed out last week at Ibrox, but he's back and available for the huge match in Bilbao.
The tie is poised at 0-0 following last week's first meeting, and the defender knows it is vital they continue their progress after a difficult domestic campaign as they bid to reach the last four and cause another major upset on the European stage.

He told Rangers TV: "We are looking forward to the game tomorrow. I thought the boys were excellent [last week].
"They dug in deep and worked hard for each other and gave us a platform to get a result so it is important we don't let the work of last week go to waste. I enjoyed the boys' performance and how hard they worked for each other.
"It's been a difficult season domestically so it is vital we continue to progress in this competition. It is a massive opportunity for us here.
"Everyone is well aware of that and the boys in the dressing room will give everything they can to get to the next round."
Elsewhere, skipper James Tavernier insists he will play anywhere to help his team.
Interim boss Ferguson has used him in a centre-back role, and it is one the captain is 'really comfortable' playing.
He said: “Wherever the manager of the team needs me to play, I'll play anywhere to help the team.
“I've found it really comfortable moving the positions. Back into the right-sided centre-back, into centre-back, into right-winger-back, into right-back. All familiar positions I've played when I was younger.

“I'm really comfortable and like I said, I'm just here to do a job for the team and help the team and the club the best way I can.”
